Nervous energy

I'm two days away from the release of my first self-published work, The EGG MEN, which goes on sale on Amazon on 1st March, and as you may expect I'm full of energy and excitement (and caffeinated cola beverages, which might explain the energy).

I've not been able to sit still without doing something, so I've been working hard on my next-but-one release, That's THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES. 

This is a Dreams are not dreams short story that will follow the publication of puppet | STRINGS (currently slated for June 1st, 2023), serving as either a prequel or a prologue, depending on which order you read them. Like puppet | STRINGS, it focuses solely on 'our hero', Brad Kimball, and the events between his decision to drop out of University and becoming embroiled in the schemes and shenanigans of our villains, The Nightmares.

That's THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES is quite well-developed and is about to go into Beta-Reading, and should be out in the Autumn, but that's not all! Oh, no!

I've also had another idea for a new setting. At the moment, I'm fighting hard to keep it embryonic and undeveloped. Dreams are not dreams is most certainly the main focus of my efforts right now, and unless my mind is tinkered with by someone from another dimension, will remain so until at least STRINGS | cut (the next full book in the Dreams are not dreams sequence and the follow-up to puppet | STRINGS) is released, which is currently on schedule for December 2023.

Happy/excited/happy/excited/happy - repeat until nauseated.

So, what's next?

The EGG MEN is now available to order on Amazon, so it's time to turn my attention to further works.

Dreams are not dreams is intended to be an ever-growing canon of connected stories. There will be a primary cycle of books, forming the main story arc. Additionally,  there will be periodic releases interspersed with the main arc, offering insights into the setting, fleshing out some of the characters introduced in the main arc or exploring events happening in parallel with the primary plot line. 

The EGG MEN is one such parallel story, released  before the main event as a taster. 

The next release in the Dreams are not dreams universe will be the first book in the main arc: puppet | STRINGS --- due for release in June 2023. The events portrayed in The EGG MEN take place at the same time as the closing chapters of puppet | STRINGS.

puppet | STRINGS will be followed by another short work: That's THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES --- due for release in September 2023

Hi! Thanks for stopping by, come in, have a seat. Can I offer you a drink?

Forgive the mess - I've just moved in. Things will be looking a little sparse around here for a while, but I'm working to remedy that as fast as I can.

I've created this blog as a way of communicating my attempts to try my hand at writing. Over the last couple of years, I've spent a lot of time working on a set of stories, and have decided it's time to inflict them upon an unsuspecting planet.

My initial works will be published as part of a series called Dreams are not dreams, commencing with a short story called The EGG MEN, which will debut on Amazon on 1st March 2023. 

The EGG MEN will be followed in the summer by the first volume of the main Dreams are not dreams story sequence, which is called puppet | STRINGS.

I am planning to use this blog to share progress reports, how I ended up doing this, how I went about things and generally rambling on about the business of pretending to be a serious writer; the ups, downs, pitfalls (and whatever the opposite of a pitfall is) will all be discussed and described here.
